VIBRATION

HAVS, or hand-arm vibration syndrome, is an injury to the vascular, muscular, and/or nervous system from sustained use of vibration-producing tools. The damage to these systems can be permanent and may be triggered with just 15 minutes of continuous use of tools. Mitigation strategies, which include pre-planning the job, task rotation among crew members, and taking frequent, short breaks while using the tool, can reduce the risk of developing HAVS. Be aware of how long you use vibration-producing tools to decrease the risk of irreversible damage to your hand and arm.

THORACIC SPINE MOBILITY

Thoracic spine mobility is essential for maintaining proper posture and shoulder mobility. Bend your knee, place your opposite hand on your knee, and pull your leg across to the opposite side of your body. Rotate your body to the side opposite the bent knee, feeling a stretch in the side of your hip and upper back.

Hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat on the other side.
