Put Tech Neck in Check
"Tech neck" describes chronic neck or shoulder pain, soreness, or stiffness caused by poor posture while using personal electronic devices. Looking down causes the neck muscles to strain and the shoulders to slump forward, leading to posture changes and muscle fatigue. Pressure on the nerve supply in the neck can cause pain in the neck or referred pain in the arms and hands. To reduce your risk, keep your head high, your phone at eye level, and your arms relaxed by your side when reading or texting. When on the phone for an extended period, consider utilizing the reverse posture technique to realign the soft tissue structures in the neck.
90-90 Hip Stretch
The 90/90 hip stretch helps improve hip flexibility. To perform this stretch, sit on the floor with your legs in front of you. Then, form a “Z” shape with your legs, with the left shin perpendicular to your right thigh, creating a 90-degree angle at your hips and knees. Lean forward from your hips while keeping your back straight. Hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds, feeling it in your hips, glutes, and inner thighs. Adjust the intensity of the stretch by how far forward you lean. Repeat on the other side.
The Benefits of Kiwi Fruit
The Kiwifruit, or kiwi, is a small brown fruit with tiny hairs on the exterior and a vibrant green interior. It is a highly nutritious fruit, containing very high amounts of vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and vitamin E. With these combinations of nutrients, kiwis are great for our immune system and digestive health. Low in sugar, they are also an excellent choice of fruit for maintaining and controlling one’s blood sugar.
